Art Description
The series “Modern Times” consists of three works: “Tea Time,” “Play Time,” and “Battle Time.” Based on antique statues photographed at the Alte Nationalgalerie, these paintings reinterpret themes from Greek mythology in a contemporary context.

Tea Time
In the original, Psyche holds a vessel symbolizing beauty. In this reinterpretation, it is replaced by a cup of bubble tea. The object of desire changes; the temptation remains.

Play Time
The original scene depicts a nymph disarming Amor. In this modern version, bow and arrow are replaced by a tablet. The game is over; Amor’s anger is real.

Battle Time
Victoria, once crowning victors with a laurel wreath, now holds a piece of workout equipment. Through an inner battle, she is able to crown herself.
